Batman, the Dark Knight

Almost 2 weeks ago I ventured my way into the movie theater to see the latest Batman Movie. This movie will make my top 5 of the year. Okay, probably top 1. I absolutely loved this movie. Despite it being a very dark movie, I absolutely enjoyed it. From the very first scene, I was hooked.

First of all, let me say I have never been a fan of Heath Ledger (it seems he has traditionally appealed to the ladies). But there is only one way to describe his potrayal of the Joker and that is Masterful. Seriously, he did such a good job and absolutely gave me chills. He made me worry about how many crazy people there might be out there in the world. He really portrayed crazy well.

This movie had so many twists and turns, it kept be on the edge of my seat pretty much the entire time. I was fairly convinced at times that I had the plot all figured out and I knew how the rest of the movie was going to play out. Boy was I ever wrong. Additionally, I didn't expect so much to happen with Harvey Dent. I figured that would be the main character in the next sequel. Well, I was wrong, this was like 2 movies in one. I seriously felt like I got two movies for my one ticket price. BONUS!!

I was also glad to see Morgan Freeman return to a character that kept the moral high-ground. (If you wonder what I am referring to, see "Wanted" movie review.) Michael Caine again does a great job as Alfred.

Christian Bale is a great Batman. He is not as good as Michael Keaton, but I think he is better than Val and George. He has proven himself a good actor. I wasn't that impressed with him in the last Batman movie, but I watched him in "3:10 to Yuma" and changed my opinion.

Overall, I give this movie 4.5 stars (Out of of a possible 5) and would encourage everyone to go see it in the theater. I think most of you have probably seen it--considering the domestic records it is breaking--but if you have not, go see it at the theater, rent it when it comes out on DVD, buy it at the local Sprawl-Mart just see it! I do have one reservation, please don't take young children. It is a little too dark for the younger people.
