Halloween 2010

This year Halloween had more of an appeal for me than it has the last several years. I have always considered Halloween a Holiday for the kids, which it is. But that doesn't mean that us adults can't enjoy it as well.

Something that I really enjoyed this year was "Halloween Town" in Nephi. Local businesses, citizens, and community groups adorned Main Street with Ghosts, Goblins, Crime Scenes, Psycho Killers, etc.

It has been fun driving up and down main street looking at all of the creativity of my fellow Nephites. I have heard so many compliments and good things about the community involvement as well as the ingenuity and just overall good times.

In addition to the decorations, the Chamber of Commerce was involved in providing treats to the local children. I don't know all of the specifics, but from what I have heard somewhere between 500 and 600 local children dressed up and went from business to business getting treats and tickets. Once they went through town they were to report to the city park for prizes. What a great and safe Halloween for the children.

For the third year, I dressed up for work. In the past my costume has been something pretty easy and not much effort. This year, I put a little more thought into my costume and decided to go as Julius Caesar. Honestly, I was shocked at the number of compliments received.
Honestly, I think my favorite part of my costume was the white basketball shorts I wore, that blended really well with the white sheet I wore. I had maybe 5 or 6 people that would look at me and I could just tell what they wanted to ask: "What are you..." "Are you wearing....." Plus others. I made them guess before I would show them the basketball shorts. Fun times fun times!
Once again, the highlight of Halloween was passing out the candy. At Franklin we pass out candy to the children of our coworkers. This is great to see the creativity of coworkers and their children, not to mention the smiles on their face as they pick up candy. The children that came to the door at my house were just as fun and so well mannered. Every kid that came to my door said "Thank you!" Which just impressed me.
All in all, I had a great Halloween. Who knows, maybe one of these days I will really get into it!
