I freely admit that I have been obsessed with all of the fires this summer. I have taken my camera out and have taken literally hundreds of pictures. One night as the Clay Springs fire started to spread into Juab County, I had to venture closer to get some pictures. (Yes, I know this generally is not smart, but I still managed to keep my distance.)
I had to take these pictures, the start contrast between the Smoke and the fluffy white clouds was just too much of a temptation to resist.
Here are some pictures I took from the other side of the fire as well.
It really was not this smokey where I was standing looking down on the fire. But the smoke was incredible thick immediately around the fire. (Obviously)
I wish I would have had my camera in video mode as I took this last picture. Watching the fire climb the mountain left me awestruck. Imagine what it is like sitting on the beach and you see wave after wave of water coming at you. This was the same kind of thing. Wave after wave of fire rushing up the hill. Each wave of fire bigger, brighter, and taller than the previous. It it hadn't been so destructive, it could have been beautiful.
Okay, that is all the pictures I have for now. Quoting the words of our Governor: "Please join me in praying for the elements to be moderated, the firefighters to be safe, and the lives and homes of our fellow residents to be protected. We are in need of an extra measure of help as we battle these fires." Thank you.

I'm watching it rain out my window, clouds and rain have fully engulfed the mountain above Alpine. So I think those prayers are paying off.
The picture of the smoke taking over the clear sky is so crazy. Shows how it completely takes it over doesnt it?!
