A Wonderful Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite times of the year. I love the big family get together, the awesome food, and of course I love being able to live in this great blessed land.

This year for Thanksgiving we had dinner with my mom's family. This was the "small" year and I think we ended up having around 45 people at the dinner tables. I am pretty certain my family has their fair share of best cooks ever. All of the food was great. The turkey was moist, the rolls fresh, stuffy perfect and the yams were perfectly sweet. After dinner I had the opportunity to visit with my some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins that I don't see often enough. Usually, I see them just twice a year (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I really do love my family and spending this time with them is great.

After dinner, I went to my parent's house and was going to watch the Cowboys vs. Raiders football game. The game no sooner started than I found the back of my eyelids. I dozed off and was out for the entire first half of the football game. After I was able to shake off the sleep, I took a quick trip to Richfield, where I spent Thanksgiving evening visiting with Amberle and her great family.

The day was almost perfect. My brother Paul and his family were in Blanding having Thanksgiving dinner with Tracy's family. I do miss having them around at Thanksgiving, but am so thankful that Tracy has the opportunity to visit and see her family. Sometimes I feel so selfish that we get to spend the majority of the holidays with Paul and his family and Tracy doesn't get to see her family as often. But I really am grateful for the times when she gets to see her family.

Friday morning we woke up early and got to take advantage of some of the Black Friday sales. This year I didn't have any killer deals that I needed, but that didn't stop me from spending almost the entire day shopping. Waking up early and going shopping with the crowds has become as much of a Thanksgiving Tradition for us as the mashed potatoes and gravy. For me, it really isn't as much about the shopping as it is the fun times with my family, the people watching, and of course a trip to the Brick Oven for a trip through their salad bar.

I have really had a great Thanksgiving weekend and now, well now I am going to crank up the Christmas music.
