The other day while driving to work, we had a bit of a slow-down as there was an accident Northbound I-15. Due to this accident I was at a complete stand-still. However, the carpool lane to the left of me was still running, albeit much slower than usual.
As the sun was coming up and started to illuminate the valley below. I look at the carpool lane longingly wishing I had a rider. When I notice a car starting to pull up the side of me. I quickly had to do a double take as I realized what the female driver had done. Unfortunately, I was not fast enough with my phone to get a picture of this person's creativity. She was using a "Hoody" to create a passenger. She used the hood portion of the sweat shirt and positioned it over her passenger side visor to give the appearance that someone was sitting in the car with her. It is honestly a good thing I was not moving or it is highly likely I could have driven myself off the road as I busted a gut laughing. Had it still been dark there was a possibility that she would be able to fool a Highway Patrolman or some other officer that only gave a glance in her direction. But as the light was up, her deceit was in full view of all the motorists she slowly passed.
I can only hope that if this "carpooler" were to get a ticket for violation of the carpool lane, her $299 fine can be used as a down payment towards the $500 fee required each year to drive solo in the diamond lane. After all, she did provide me with some entertainment on the slow commute. This has to be worth something???
For the pictures shown above, I recreated images using my own car and hoody, just so you can have a full understanding of what I saw.

All I can say is "What an IDIOT!". I believe that if she were to get caught, there is an additional fine for premeditated deceit. She should have just put a car seat in her car with a doll, at least that would look a little more believable.
Well it made me laugh really hard anyway!
THat is such a great idea! Now that Theresa has to work from home 3 days a week I will be driving alone. I will have to use this, thanks for the idea....if you see me passing you someday don't tell on me!
