This picture is one I took a few years ago while in CA. But it felt like it worked for today.
Most of you that know me should know the following 2 facts about me. I drive 160 miles (round-trip) for work daily, according to my brother Chris I drive too fast. AND I love to watch people.
This is where my story begins. This morning while driving in, the sun was coming up over the mountains, causing it to be a beautiful morning. Well, because of the extra light I had, I was able to do a little people watching. Sometimes, I wonder if I should really watch people while driving, but today was a good day.
While driving I started noticing the looks on peoples faces. I didn't see the grimaces, scowls, or frowns that I normally see. Instead what I saw was smiles. LOTS and LOTS of smiles. While I was driving past people, I began wondering what their stories were. I saw a 20-something guy talking on his cell phone, he had a smile and a proud-papa look to his face. I thought maybe he was talking to his small daughter and she was saying: "Daddy, I love you. Be safe at work today." Or maybe it was his son reciting to him the "ABC's". I saw a lady with her head tilted back in full laughter. I couldn't help but wonder if she had heard a great joke on the radio. There were the two gentlemen in the carpool lane talking in an animated manner and smiling. Was it a good story or were they recapping the BYU win from last night? There was the 30-40 something gentlemen putting food in his mouth smiling and I wondered if he was happy because he had snagged the last slice of pizza from dinner last night for his breakfast today. There was the older couple merging onto the freeway talking to each other and she looked at him with what appeared to be a deep love.
There were still others, I wondered if they were thinking of weekend plans? A new friendship made, they were excited because of some dope driving too fast in a blue Toyota that would sweep all the cops for them? Or maybe they were like me and had a good play list of music this morning. Then again maybe they were just smiling, because it was Friday morning?
I had a great commute in this morning and I smiled the entire way. I guess maybe it was contagious.

Great post, Clinton! Why on earth do you drive 80 miles to work?! I hope your Toyota is old enough to not have the current problems...?
