I am a conservative through and through. Having said as much, I am also open-minded. Meaning, I do have some liberal opinions. And, I don't believe the best candidates can always be found in one party. As a matter of fact, I have never voted straight-party in my life. This will not change today.
This might be a little naive on my part, but it is about more than just left or right, conservative or liberal. It is about integrity, about doing the right thing, and a candidate that will actually do something. "Do something" does not include blaming others for the mess. It means rolling up your sleeves and working hard. You are given an incredible chance to serve now just do it.
As an American Citizen, we don't get a pass either. Stop playing the partisan game. The Dems are still bitching about Bush, the Republicans are carrying on about Obama, Reid and Pelosi. This bickering back and forth solves no problems at all. All it does is further tear our country down and apart. Please just stop. Give them a chance. If things don't work out, in two years vote them out of office. Do it again and again until they realize what we expect out of our representatives. We don't want someone that makes a career off our tax dollars and gives us nothing but heart-burn in return.
Now off the national scene and into something for local. To my friends in Utah, please look at the candidates, look at their character. Don't just vote for someone based on their party affiliation. What can they do and more importantly what will they do?
Now I might really be through with the tirade. But please, get out and vote, exercise your freedoms, make your voice heard. Stand up and be counted!
