DUP Dedication

Last night (Sept 22, 2011) I attended the dedication for the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Antique Agricultural Equipment Museum. This was a great experience. Over the course of the last few years, I have watched as this museum has been taking shape.

Through the guidance of the DUP sisters, scout troops, service organizations and volunteers the old county impound yard has been turned into something pretty amazing. A place to experience Utah History. We know that agriculture was a staple and a mainstay of the early pioneers and was a way of life in the early days of Utah.

The dedication was conducted by local chairman Bessie Park Jones. For those of you unfamiliar with Bessie, she is a tireless individual who is always giving back to the community and to those around her.

My dad helped to coordinate much of the work for the museum. Because of his help, he was asked to participate in the dedication.
The equipment was donated to the museum, including this Farmall Tractor shown above and the Horse Drawn Beet Digger below.

The dedication turned out to be a great event and I truly did appreciate the opportunity to attend. Furthermore, I am looking forward to walking through the museum and learning more about our agricultural history.
