I am grateful, for my job!!!

On December 14, we held the Finance Department Christmas Party. There were three of us asked to be on the committee. We decided that for the party this year we would take full advantage of a clause we affectionately refer to as the "At Least" clause. We were given a dollar amount and were told to spend "at least" that much per person. The committee decided for the party this year we would go to dinner at Market Street Grill in South Jordan and then we would give everyone a gift basket that would include a DVD, Gift Certificate and some treats.

In addition we had tentative plans for a pre-party party and an after-party party. The pre-party was going to be a short meeting to watch the Christmas Episode of The Office, from Season 2. Unfortunately, the room we had planned to use was booked and we had a hard time finding a room that we could use. Well, the auditorium opened up, but I could not figure out how to get the overhead projector to work. It is not a portable projector, it is built into the room and plays very much like a movie. I am still convinced you need some sort of Doctorate to be able to run that dang thing! Anyway, we decided to bag the idea of the pre-party party. We then met at the restaurant for lunch. As we sat there and visited with one another, I realized my coworkers are really great people. Strange how it takes getting away from the office and truly visiting and talking with people to learn how much you like someone.

We passed out the gifts before leaving the restaurant, everyone seemed to like the movie we selected for them. As I was leaving the restaurant, another patron stopped me and asked me where I worked. I told her that I worked for FranklinCovey and she commented on how great it is to see a company do something so nice for their employees. I thanked her and walked out of the restaurant. I then had to relay the events to our CFO, Scott. He laughed and then made the comment about that probably being the first time in years anyone was ever jealous of someone working at Franklin. We all nodded in agreement and laughed, but I am certain each of us did feel grateful for our employment at a Company that does their best to value their employees. (By the way, we also decided to forego the After-Party Party. Instead we just used it as an opportunity to beat the traffic home.)
