You know it is the Holiday Season when your calendar starts filling up with events. But, I wouldn't have it any other way. As many of you might know, the Christmas Season tends to be a difficult time for those of us that are single. You know, parties and such tend to be easier when you have someone special to share everything with. A few years ago, I decided to stop worrying about that during this time and just start enjoying the Holiday Parties, ever since then I am much happier during this time. With that said, let me give you a little recap of last week.
Tuesday afternoon, my niece Amber was singing with her school chorus at Temple Square. So, I jetted out of work a bit early and made my way over to listen to them sing. I was a couple of minutes late, but according to Amber that was okay, because the first couple songs are not their best. There is nothing quite like hearing a choral group sing the songs of Christmas to put you in the mood for Christmas. Of course, the snow that started coming down on Tuesday helped out as well.

Saturday afternoon was my ward humanitarian aid day. This was the second annual and was as enjoyable and rewarding as last year. The entire ward was involved with tying quilts, putting together hygeine, school, and newborn kits, as well as stuffing football and dolls and bagging blocks. When everything was loaded into the scout trailer, there was hardly an inch of room. It is so amazing to be involved in something that can benefit others. It really helps to promote the true meaning of Christmas. For my part, I spent the majority of my time helping to tie two quilts. Yes, I was talked into helping tie the quilts. Of course I am not very quick at it and probably not the best at it, but I felt good about helping. Other portions of my time was spent taking pictures and also being "Mix-Master Clinton". I love iTunes! So easy to load all of my Christmas CD's and push play and have enough music to last for the more than 6 hours people spent helping this worthwhile cause.

Sunday evening was fantastic as we were lucky enough to get tickets to The First Presidency Christmas Devotional. I have seen a few of them on PBS in the past, but this was the first time I have attended one. Oh what a remarkable experience this was for me. What a great chance to listen to the Prophet speak and testify of the Savior. The First Presidency Devotional always holds a special spot in my heart. Back in the days of being a missionary, my first Christmas away from home was coming up, I don't mind saying that I was a bit homesick. As I was watching the devotional that year, they panned the crowd and right there was my cousin Lorilyn and her husband Randall. It was awesome, just what I needed. Just being able to see someone that is from home really was the boost I needed to help me out.
After the devotional was over, we (Me, my mom, Mike, Ali, and Dorothy) decided to walk over to Temple Square and catch the lights. Apparently, so did about 10,000 other people. Since we were not in a hurry, we were able to wander around taking our time, taking in all of the sights and even getting a few pictures. (Mike is going to send me the pictures, once he does I will post some of them.) Anyway, we took a detour through the visitors center and as we were getting ready to walk down the stairs, Mike is just standing there. We couldn't figure out what he was doing. He said that he knew someone and wanted to say hi to them. We leaned up against he wall and before we knew it, he was rambling in Cantonese. This poor girl turns around and she looks at Mike like she had just seen a ghost. The person he was waiting for was someone that he had met while living in Macau. I just amazing to me that in all of the people walking around Temple Square, we run into someone that Mike knows, who is from the other side of the world. I guess, I do need to say, she is serving a mission on temple square. But she goes home in a week, so it was great timing.

Well, that is the summary of the highlights of my week.
