Have a SUPER Sunday

This year I am very excited for the Superbowl. (Well, I am excited for most football games.) Anyway, I am excited to be watching the Arizona Cardinals face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Some of my best friends are Steeler Fans (Gary and Adam) and I am a fan of Kurt Warner. Ever since Kurt led my Rams to the big game I have been a follower of his. (I guess I still consider him a Ram.) Regardless of who wins this year I can be happy. I can be happy for my friends if the Steelers win and if The Cardinals win I can be excited for a team to get that monkey off their back and win a championship.

Super Sunday is one of my favorite days of the year. I always throw a party for the family. Well not so much as the family comes over to eat copious amounts of junk food. This year will be no different as I am preparing Pizza Rolls, Cheese bread, salad, coconut cake and other junk! While we eat we manage to watch the commercials (which have been rather dismal lately) and even catch some of the game. I love the day it is so much fun!!!!!!

Recently I was thinking about past superbowls. The first games that pop into my mind are the 3 Games my Rams have played. (Winning only one.) In addition to those games, I think fondly of the 1985 Chicago Bears. Before I continue I have to apologize to those of you that are on my "Sweet Tunes Friday" Distribution, because the following is being taken directly from that email. :-)

"The year was 1985 and a football team from Chicago had proven to be dominant in the sport. In doing so, they had started to get a loyal following of fans. They had a defense that stopped pretty much everything, and an offense that was quirky at best. They had a star quarterback from BYU, they had one of the greatest players EVER in Walter (Sweetness) Payton and then to top it off, they had a lineman that well could be a running back; William (The Refrigerator) Perry.

They completely destroyed their opponents that year, the NE Patriots. Final Score was 46-10.

The Bears were a fun team to watch and in addition to their football abilities that year, they even cut themselves a hit record. The song name was appropriately titled the Superbowl Shuffle. The song was released in January 1986 shortly before the Superbowl was to be played. As a teenage boy, I loved the song, I thought it was great that they were just cool enough to even have a record. They recorded the song 2 weeks before they even managed to win their way into the big game. As I look back now, there is no way I would ever cheer for a team that arrogant and self-promoting. (I still would not cheer for the Patriots) But as a teenager, it was pretty great! So, in honor of the big game being played on Sunday, I give you the 1985 Chicago Bears and the SuperBowl Shuffle."

For each of you, I am attaching a YouTube link for the SuperBowl Shuffle. I hope you watch and can't help but smile. (Either from the memories or just laughing at the players, you decide.)

Hope you all enjoy this year.
