Don't Hate!

Don't hate me for this post and well, just don't hate period!  Oh before I continue any further, I need to note, I love Thanksgiving!  Love, love, love it!  I have so many happy memories spending time with my family at Thanksgiving.  I always loved going to the Armory here in Nephi and seeing what always appeared to be an endlessly long table covered in turkey, mashed potatoes, home made dressing, and yams.  (I am certain there were other things, but well I think there might have been.)  When the main course was done there was a buffet of pies in every flavor imaginable, banana cream, chocolate cream, apple, cherry and peach.  (I am intentionally omitting the two pies that are in fact an abomination and crime unto the heavens.)  Anyway, so please note this is coming from someone who loves Thanksgiving and fondly reminisces of Turkey Meals Past.

The last couple of years (I blame social media) there has seemed to be such a great animosity towards Christmas from "Thanksgiving Lovers".  I have two words...PUH LEAZE!  They have always--ALWAYS blended together.  At least as long as I can remember.  Thanksgiving and Christmas go together like salt and pepper, mustard and catsup, Captain & Tanielle, I think you get the idea.  That is why it is called "The Holidays".  Most of the people I talk to about it really are not Thanksgiving lovers as much as they are Christmas Haters.  I am okay with the two holidays being separate, but please don't try to be on some moral high-horse in the name of defending Thanksgiving.  I can see through your BS!

But, I do have one HUGE complaint about Black Friday shopping.  It is BLACK FRIDAY, do not start your specials on Thursday.  That I will admit upsets me.  Don't take away from time with family, for shoppers or for your employees.  That just shows me that you value profit more than you value your employees.  Yes, I am fully aware that most retail outlets run in the red most of the year and it is not until the Christmas Season that you actually turn a profit.  As a business person it is understandable to me that you want to pull people into your stores early to make money, but please don't do it on the backs of your employees families.

Okay, I am through.  Tide can now have their soap box back.  Oh and don't judge me, just because I have been listening to Christmas Music all day.  In my headphones!

You've been listening to Christmas music already? DANG! You're like my friend Amber at work. She was listening to it last week. I'm more of a Halloween fan...or just my birthday. That's a really important holiday.
Always good to read your posts!

I keep saying THEY GO TOGETHER! Now I don't blend them because I love them both. I get excited starting Halloween time. The HOLIDAYS are my favorite time of the year. I do start my Christmas music on Nov 1st, but the tree does not go up until the day after Thanksgiving. I agree with your Black Friday notes also. Although on Thursday when the sales start after the kids are asleep, I absolutely log online and get expensive teenage clothes at rockin prices!! Pumpkin and ??? What is the other pie omitted? Ohhhh Pecan? I make both and LOVE them!

PS Lets not forget my birthday is also a celebration and it falls right there in the holidays. Coincidence? I think not!
