The First weekend of February is always a super busy weekend as the Saturday is always the Banquet for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. For several years I have had the opportunity to serve on the local committee. The banquet turns into an all day event as we meet early in the morning for breakfast, and with the exception of the fastest shower known to mankind I don't get home until close to midnight. We have a great time, but it tends to be a rather hectic and tiring day. The picture below was taken by another of the committee members at one of our weekly meetings.
The next day is the SuperBowl and the Painter family always has a big shindig. Generally I host the party. But this year, because Liz's team was in the game she offered to throw the party for all of us. I must admit, it was pretty nice this year to not worry about it, although I did also miss it a bit.
The party was good, the food great which was good, since the game was dull and boring. The worst part of the day occurred when I was driving to Chris and Liz's house for the party. I had a hot chip dip sitting on the floor in the cab of my truck. One of the other items I was transporting tipped over and knocked the dip all over the floor of my truck. Fortunately most of the dip spilled on the floor mat and not on the seat or the carpet. After a few choice words and a little ingenuity, I was able to get most of it out of my truck and into the garbage. Then a quick trip to Clean Freak and my truck was clean and smelled like new.
