I am addicted

Despite my initial resistance, I am hooked on reality TV. There are three shows that I like to watch. My problem, I don't have TiVo (or a DVR) and they all have a show on Tuesday night. Let me give you my thoughts concerning the current season my favorites.
So, I don't feel any guilt watching The Biggest Loser. It is a show that actually helps people. And you would think it would motivate me to be better. As of yet, this is not the case. But watching these people have total life transformations is incredible.

This season has been a bit different, because it was couples. Which meant that at the beginning the teams immediately had someone with them to provide that oft times needed emotional support. Anyone that has ever been on a diet knows they can't achieve their goal without the support of family and friends.

The show is down to the final four contestants; Mark, Ali, Roger and Kelly. Although, I am outwardly cheering for Ali, I also want to see Kelly succeed. She just seems to be the person that has overcome the most and I really want to see her do well. However, Mark needs to go! He needs to be out of my sight and ear shot. I seriously cannot stand to see or hear him cry one more time. Most of you know I am an emotional person and at times tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve. But this guy, wears them a little too proudly. Last night I caught myself yelling at the TV, "Dude, have some respect for yourself, hold back a tear or 200 for once." (There may or may not have been a profanity or two peppered in for good effect.)

Secondly; Dancing with the Stars. Heaven help me! How can I watch this show? The first couple of seasons I couldn't watch. I mean it was after all Ballroom Dancing. Well, after flipping through the channels one evening, I stopped to see what the show was with all these hot women. I have been hooked ever since. Okay, go ahead and call me a pig, I am okay with it. That is what initially brought me to the show, but these people truly are talented. They impress me, I know I can't dance like that.

I am a little dejected that local girl and 2-time champ Julianne Hough was shown the door last night. I have to say, she helped make some changes with Adam Carolla, but not enough to keep her on the show. This season I am impressed with Marlee Matlin, here she is def and can still keep on beat and dance. Me, I am just a fat white boy and I can't keep the beat. My other choices are Shannon Elizabeth and Jason Taylor.
Lastly, the top rated reality show, American Idol. This might come as a shock to some of my old co-workers. The first season I completely refused to watch. I thought it was probably the dumbest concept for a television show ever. Everyone around me was talking about this show and how entertaining it was to watch. So, during season 2, I started watching and I will forever maintain, purely so that I could talk about it with my friends and co-workers. Before I knew it, I was cheering for (and against) contestants.

This season is no exception. I like cheering for David Archuletta, because he is from Utah, I also do like Kristie Lee Cook and Michael Johns. Initially, I liked Brooke White, but the last few weeks she has really been on my nerves. Here performances have been okay, but can she please just keep her mouth shut while the judges talk to her? She reminds me of a kid that is constantly back-talking her parents. I know that another huge favorite out there is David Cook, but I do not like him. A few weeks ago he had a really good performance, but the last couple of weeks he has not impressed me at all. I think his sound has been lifted from one of the albums from the band Live. (And not the good one Throwing Copper, probably one from Secret Samadhi) Oh and Carly can go as well. I seriously think she could pull off something from Evanescence and be okay, but other than that she bugs me. The rest are just somewhere in between.

Enough! Maybe I should just stick with my original reality TV, sports!

I like all three of those shows as well! I have not watched Biggest Loser as much this year just because of Idol but I will be sure to watch the finale next week. I am way excited. Not sure who I am wanting to win.

Idol is one of my favorites. Love the show. Go David Cook! and Michael Jones. Boo David Archuletta!

Hi Clinton. It's Melissa Miller. It's been a long time since I've been to Utah and haven't visited anyone. Are you still at Franklin? I found your blog. Hope you are doing well. I have 2 blogs as well. One is for my family and the other is to share Dan's adventures with wakeboarding. Hope to hear from you.

Hello my dear friend, I also LOVE those three shows, especially The Biggest Loser. Until I got married I rarely watched TV but now my life has slowed down (for the better) and I actually have time to relax in front of the tube. The only show I recall ever TiVo is Biggest Loser (okay, maybe Gray's Anatomy but I'm over that trash now).
