I'll Be the 6th

About two weeks ago Utah was graced with the presence of a new burger restaurant. I am pretty certain as the doors opened the choirs of heaven sang out a joyous hosanna! One of my coworkers had been watching the progress of the building and mentioned to us that they were going to be opening in the Ft. Union area. About a week and a half ago Francine announced they were open. We scheduled a day to try this new extravaganza of burger delight.

We gathered together a group of six to make this journey of excitement. Upon receiving accurate directions, we arrived at our destination of greatness. We walked to the door and I was a little distraught to see the line was all the way back to the door. Despite the line, we stepped inside to check out the atmosphere. The walls were brandished with reviews from newspapers and magazines, the names of which had probably never been mentioned or even heard of in Utah. For those so inclined, while you waited in line you could partake of a bucket of peanuts. Due to the severe nastiness of peanuts I was able to control my hunger pangs. Much to my surprise the line moved very quickly. They can handle a register! You place your order, pay and they give you a glass for your drink. You find a table--it is possible that a body slam might be required for you to get the table you want.

After a short wait and some great conversation each of our numbers was called. We each picked up our orders and it didn't take long to realize that we had ordered WAY TOO MUCH food. We all ordered regular burgers and fries. A regular burger is two patties and the regular fries are enough for two. I reached into the bag and immediately found a piping hot french fry. I immediately took a bite and realized these aren't your mother's french fries. Oh wait, this is just what they taste like! The sign on the wall said the potatoes are fresh from Burley, Idaho. They were fresh, they were thick cut fries and absolutely delicious. I stuffed one french fry after another into my face and was completely satisfied. My co-consumers started raving about their burgers. I made the comment that my fries were so good that I didn't want to stop eating them to start with the hamburger. I was told that I would not be disappointed if I tried. So, I unwrapped the foil from my Regular Bacon Cheeseburger, with mushrooms, ketchup, and mustard. I took a small bite and was as instantly hooked on my burger as I had been the delicious fries. It didn't take long for the conversation at the table to abruptly end as we all decided to eat instead of talk. Within minutes the conversation resumed as we all started raving about the good food we had just inhaled.

I don't want to build the hype too much for any of you. But for those of you in Utah who can visit the new place, please do. For the rest of you nationwide that have been eating at Five Guys for several years, do whatever you want! I don't care. HA HA!!! No really, do and enjoy. I give it 5 out of 5 stars. I really do!

Would you believe I heard about how great this place was living in Rio when the Brazilian's who'd eaten there would ask if we had one in Utah.
