Congratulations Chase

It was a big weekend for my nephew Chase. The 7th Grade Football team that he plays Cornerback for beat the team from Beaver to advance to the Championship Game which we will be played next Saturday. They are going into the championship as the underdogs. Which is a bit of a change for them, last year they won all their games including the championship game. This year they lost one game to Manti and I believe that is who they are playing for the championship next Saturday.

In addition to the big football win, he had a win on the mountain. This weekend marked the start of the Elk Hunt here in Utah. Yesterday morning we went out for a few hours before Chase's Football Game. We ran into a few elk, Chase almost had an opportunity to pull the trigger on a bull, but it wasn't a clean shot so he opted not to shoot. Then this morning Paul and Chase headed out to see if they could run into some more elk. By 1:00 they were not yet home and I was beginning to wonder if they either had some sort of accident or if maybe, just maybe they had been successful. Family dinner was at 2:00 and I was just sitting down with my broccoli chowder in a bread bowl. Amber says, "Dad needs help." He had managed to send her a text giving that much information. Tracy called him to see what kind of help he needed, he said that he just needed an extra vehicle because he truck was full with an elk. After Tracy hung up from him, he sent a picture showing us the results of their efforts. His elk is a spike by two but he has a huge body and his antlers are nearly 3 feet tall. I am pretty excited for him, his first year hunting an elk and he manages to fill his tag.

I know some of you might be adverse to looking at the elk, but I do have the picture on my computer and if any of you would like to see it, let me know and I will email it your way.

Congratulations Chase! Good luck with your championship game next week.
