HISTORICAL!!!!!!!

We live in an absolutely incredible country. Today, I am so proud to be an American. I think (some)barriers have been crossed and we should hold our heads up high. Yesterday, in record numbers Americans let their voice be heard and elected the first Black President Mr. Barack Obama. I am glad that it is something I am able to see in my life-time. Seriously, this has been a long time coming.

Let me give you the full recap. I didn't vote for him, I don't think he was the best candidate. But my official stand is: "He was not my choice, but he is my president and I will support him." I have full respect for the office, but do not think for a second I will not question his policies and his motives. As an American citizen I have that right, just as I would have questioned John McCain or anyone else in that office, just as I now question "W". I expect him to be held to his word and to make every effort to keep his promises. Having said that, I will celebrate in the historical nature of this election, I am going to put away the ugliness of this past election season and will look forward and move on.

To all of my friends who support President Elect-Obama, congratulations.

Soha--say what you want. You know I can't be offended. Wiat, that is not true. I did see a commercial on Youtube yesterday that offended me. But I don't think you could. How are Betty and Louey?

I read it...I will do the same. "He was not my choice, but he is my president and I will support him." It will take many, many long discussions with Nathan though---as he is already packing for our move to Canada.

Well said Clinton. Didn't vote for him, but he's my President now so I'll support him.

I totally agree. I actually made a similar statement on my own blog. Of course our mutual friend Russ was dissappointed in me but I must say as a woman and Republican how could I not vote for the gun wielding mother of five? hehe
