Banquet Recap

Well, the Elk Banquet is over! Saturday night about 12:30 I got home and let out a huge sigh of relief. I was glad we were done for the year. Throughout the night I figured out new ideas for next year and hopefully, we will be able to improve. I had mentioned how concerned I was about the economy and our participation. We ended up serving 230 dinners and had a few more people come to the door that just wanted to enjoy the night. I think in the end, despite being down about 40 people from last year, overall dollars were down only about 5%. I am including a picture from my phone from the evening. Unfortunately, it is at the end of the evening instead of during or before the event.

Before the even started the building looked great. We had all of our auction items on the North side of the building (to the right in the picture) and all of the auction items on the South (left). Then the games were peppered throughout the building. Seriously, I was so impressed with how good it all looked. This picture was taken from my view at the entrance. You know me, the finance guy and excel stud (ha ha) so I get to check everyone in at the door. To be honest, it might be the best place; because I get to see everyone as they come in.

The night was great! I am glad it is over, but have already started writing down ideas and suggestions for next year. After all, the first planning meeting is only about 8 months away.
