A couple of pix

A few weeks ago my family decided we would take a few days and spend them camping in the Nephi Canyon. Admittedly, I love this place and think it is in the top 10 most beautiful places on earth. Due to my affinity for this area, I made certain to charge the battery on my camera, I figured I might have an opportunity to grab a few pictures.

Unfortunately, my camera sat in my car, untouched for the first couple of days. Finally, late Saturday I grabbed the camera and snapped a few pictures of my family lounging about, chatting, exploring, etc. While these are the pictures I will cherish, I did manage to find something that I thought was rather unique. While walking to the creek, I noticed the burned stump you see below:

Although, not very exciting, I thought it was different and it begged to be photographed. My nephew decided that from a distance it looked like they could have used it to pattern the Graboids from Tremors. At first I had to laugh, but later I admitted he was absolutely right.

The next morning I took a little drive further up the road to Bear Canyon. While turning around in the campground, I noticed this spider's web on the fence. I was with my niece, although she was grossed out at the thought of the spider she thought the web looked pretty cool. We bother agreed it would have looked better with a little bit of morning dew still on it.

I think both of these offered fantastic picture opportunities, but I was a bit disappointed in both of the shots. I am still working on my angles, perspective, etc. I love my little camera, but I know I have so much to learn. I am thinking of seeing if I can't find a photography class somewhere and enroll for some perspective. My lack of picture success did not diminish my weekend at all. I still had a great time and absolutely loved the restful weekend I had in a little piece of heaven.

On a side note: Last week, I stopped in at Allen's Camera in Orem. Great little store. I highly recommend if you want to purchase anything camera related, this is the place to go. If you go there, ask for Rex. I believe he is part owner, very helpful and knowledgeable.
