Wendover Weekend

In 1969 (even before I was born) Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard formed the "little ol" band from Texas was formed. Fast forward to August 13, 2010 some 40 years later and I am going to see ZZ Top in concert for the third time. To say they are one of my favorite bands is definitely not a stretch. I hear a few chords from "Legs", "La Grange", "Sleeping Bag" or many of their other hits and I quickly crank up the radio and do my best to keep up with Billy's vocals.

I think one of my favorite things about ZZ Top is that it is also one of my father's favorite bands. All three of my ZZ Top concerts have been with my dad and and at least 2 of my brothers.

This concert was a blast! They played at the Concert Hall in Wendover. Which is a really fun venue. It seats only 1,000 people and there is literally not a bad seat in the place. Of the three shows I have attended, the band interacted more with the audience than before and seemed to have a genuine great time. They played a majority of their hits, but did miss a few songs. As soon as the show was over Chris and I looked at each other and compiled a mental list of songs they missed. Despite this, I still had a great time at the concert and I am giving a shout out to the Montego Bay. The rooms we stayed in were really nice.

Loved spending the time away with the majority of my family. We have such a good time together and well let's be honest, Mike is Damn Funny. He can turn any trip into a good time. When you get Mike and add Chris, the fun is exponential.

Since this week is Race Week out on the Salt Flats, there was a variety of Old Roadsters all put on display across the street at the Golden Nugget. It was exciting to watch them pull in and see the salt particles all over the hoods and tire wells of the cars. And there was some great old cars. I didn't nab any pictures, as I had left my camera back at the other hotel. But you can trust me when I say they were awesome.

The weekend was great and I really enjoyed my time away from things and just relaxing a bit. Although, next time I go out there, I think I am going to grab my suite and lay out on the 3rd story pool "Euro Style."

Just so you don't feel bad about missing the show, I am going to include one of my personal favorites from ZZ Top. Let's just hope the link works, since I have never done this before.
