Finally....

Apparently, there is a rumor out that I have fallen off the face of the Earth. I have not been updating my blog, FB or even apparently texting anyone enough. I have had a few text messages, some phone calls, and even a face-to-face request that I update my blog. Just so people will know that I still exist. Rest assured, I still exist.

Last time I actively searched for a job was over 14 years ago. In that amount of time, I must have forgotten how much I dis-like searching for jobs. Well, truth be told, what I really don't like is interviewing. Friday I had a job interview set up, they scheduled me to for an hour and a half. I met with three different people and was done in 45 minutes instead of 90. I would like to say that I think that is a good sign. But I think it is probably the worst sign.
Here is the problem. As long as people are asking me questions I can answer them and I don't mind just the chit-chat of getting to know someone, but I always struggle with: "Do you have any questions for us?" I have read multiple books on this topic and none, let me repeat NONE of them tell me what questions I should ask. So, if there is anyone out there and they have the perfect questions to ask, let me have 'em.

The good news is that interviews get easier the more you do - so keep at it.

Research will help you with questions. It's always good to ask about company direction, new products, new strategy.

If it is a company so small you can't do research ask about company or better yet team culture. Management philosophy of the people the position reports to.

Ask about the typical day of the person in the job - how the work day is broken down, etc.

Good luck!
