A Child is Born

At Christmas we take time to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. What a marvelous and humbling event! The ultimate Christmas Gift, given by a loving Heavenly Father, a Savior, to help us find our way home. In Luke 1:30-32 we read:
30. An angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou has found favour with God.
31. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in they womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
32. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God Shall give unto him the throne of his father David.

From the time we were first able to hear and to understand we have been told the story of Our Dear Lord's Birth. Each year as part of my Christmas Tradition I take a few minutes and read the account in Luke 2.
4. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, unto Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5. To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6. And so it was that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7. And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great job, which shall be to all people.
11. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14. Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Did those angels echo the words of Isaiah?
Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
I have wondered if I was one of those Heavenly Hosts, announcing and heralding in the birth of our Savior? If I wasn't did I know them? Did I help get them ready? Was I able to be there when they practiced "Glory to the New Born King"? Or is it my job to make that announcement today? Is it my time to announce the Love of our Heavenly Father and Savior?
If that is my role, then let me quote a few words from Samuel the Lamanite. Helaman 14 we learn:
8. And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall believe on the Son of God, the same shall have everlasting life.
13. And if ye believe on his name ye will repent of your sins, that thereby ye may have a remission of them through HIS (caps added) merits.
14. And behold, again, another sign I give unto you, yea, a sign of his death.
15. For behold, he surely must die that salvation may come; yea, it behooveth him and becometh expedient that he dieth, to bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, that thereby men may be brought into the presence of the Lord.
16. Yea, behold, this death bringeth to pass the resurrection, and redeemeth all mankind from the first death--that spiritual death; for all mankind, by the fall of Adam being cut off from the presence of the Lord, are considered as dead, both as to things temporal and to things spiritual,
17. But behold the resurrection of Christ redeemeth mankind, yea, even all mankind, and bringeth them back into the presence of the Lord.
That's why Christ was born, that is why we celebrate his birth and his life at this time of year. Because he gave his life for us!
So, on this Special Day, a Holy Day for most. I have a few Christmas wishes for you!

  • I wish you love! Or to at least know that you are loved. By me, by family, by friends, but most importantly by our Heavenly Father and by our Savior, Jesus Christ.

  • I wish you much peace and happiness!

  • I wish you a full table with wonderful friends and family.

  • I wish you fond memories of today as well as memories of Christmases past.

  • Even if the day doesn't go as planned for you, I wish you comfort to know that very few things ever go as planned, but it is the unplanned things that everyone remembers and cherishes most. So sit back, relax and enjoy.

Merry CHRISTmas to you!

All my Love,

--Clint
