If you are committed to being kinder and more charitable and are looking for ways to participate, I have a couple of options for you. Opportunity #1 For the 3rd year, a family friend is doing a drive for warm winter items. She is collecting, Coats, hats, scarves, gloves, blankets, or anything warm and is taking them to "The Road Home". Which is a homeless shelter in SLC. To learn more, please click on the following link: http://www.theroadhome.org/ As I mentioned this is the 3rd year they have participated in this endeavor. She has said it has been a very rewarding and humbling experience for her family.
Opportunity #2 A youth group from my parent's neighborhood is collecting items for the Primary Children's hospital. "They are gathering toys, games, movies, blankets, and lots of other fun stuff" that can be used at the hospital. Items can be new or gently used. The items must also be cleanable. So, rather than a cloth doll, the hospital prefers plastic dolls, etc.
Here is what I am proposing. I know I have readers and followers in the Provo and SLC areas. This post is to make a plea with you to participate in one of these two events. What a selfless act! None of the items need to be new. Did you clean your closet last weekend and found old coats that are still in good condition but the kids don't wear them anymore? Are there toys in the house that are too young for you or your kids? Do you have extra blankets about? Gather them together. (They can also be new if you are feeling extra generous)
I will take a part of the day next Thursday (December 8) and make a trip through Utah and Salt Lake Counties to pick up items from you, my friends and family.
Let me know if you want to participate and you want me to stop by to pick up the items. Send me an email (my email address is on the side of the right side of my blog) or give me a call. I would love to see you!
