I love Sundays, sometimes

I started writing this post Sunday evening.  I was sitting in the recliner, feet up in the air typing away on my computer.  But it never felt just right, so I saved the draft of the post and figured I would look at it again Monday Morning.  Maybe my head would be more clear and I would truly be able to relate what I was thinking.  Nothing ever came to me, so instead I am sharing this randomness:
  • What is wrong with fitting in?  You see or hear quotes all the time about standing out in a crowd.  I am all for that, heck I pretty much stand out in most crowds.  But there is nothing wrong with wanting to fit in with a group of people that you enjoy their company.
  • I have heard so many people complain lately about the snow.  I for one, will not complain.  Because this summer, I will enjoy having enough water to take a shower and water my lawn.  In college I had a professor say that at one time in CA when water was scarce they had to learn the following phrase:  "When it's yellow let it mellow, when it's brown flush it down."  Just hearing and remember that phrase is enough for me to know that I don't ever want to have to follow that rule.
  • Sundays are hard!  I love the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I am so grateful for my testimony, but I tell you being a single 40-something guy in a family ward is very hard.  As a holder of the Priesthood I am expected to administer and help those around me, which I love doing.  But there is no one else in my boat that I can turn to for advice and help.  I know, we all feel like we are a hurricane ravaged island in the midst of beautiful, well-groomed tropical islands, but lately I have felt pretty lonely at church.
  • Wondering why I bought golf clubs a few years ago.  I think I have used them twice and with the -5 degrees we are experiencing, I don't see me using them again any time soon.
  • This sinus and ear infection combo has got to go!  Seriously, I am done with it.  Headache "day 10" has not been fun and the dizziness is makes me feel like I am on a two-week binge.
  • I am LOVING the NFL right now.  College football ended on a low-note with the huge championship blowout, but I am pretty excited about the NFL playoffs.  I don't know if a team I am cheering for has even won yet, but I don't care, I am loving it that much!
  • I have incredible co-workers.  The other day one of my co-workers brought me a ceramic tile with a picture of an elk on it.  She put a note with it that said thanks for being such an awesome co-worker.  Hello!  She is the awesome one.
  • Seriously, FB friends, lets lay off the political posts.  I thought they would stop after the election.  Nope, they are still going.  Let me tell you a little secret.  Your 2nd Amendment Posts or your anti-Obama posts are not making an impact or changing anyone.  Do you hear me?  Changing no one's mind.  If you really want to just write something send a letter to your congressman or senator.  Because I can guarantee you,  no one is scrolling through FB to see if there are more people for or against gun rights.  If you feel like you are losing some of your constitutional rights (an we probably are) figure out a productive way to voice your opinion.
  • So thankful my niece is out of the hospital and the big health-scares we had at the end of 2012 are nearly gone!  Woo Hoo!  It is time to celebrate.
  • Just returned from the fridge in the break room.  Not only did I find a Diet Coke I put in there a few weeks ago, but I also found a Hershey Bar I put in there about the same time.  Neither one of them are very healthy, but they put a smile on my face!
Okay, now that I have thrown out a few items of total randomness, some of them items that have been bouncing around in my head for a while now.  It is time to get back to work.
