This Old Hat

What you see, to the left is in fact my favorite hat. It has been well worn over the years. Saturday after a day of riding the 4-wheelers, my hat was covered in dust. I tried to brush off the extra dust, but some of it was there to stay.
It has been suggested that this hat end the journey and find it's place in the garbage. But, I just can't do it. Why is this hat so special? You see it hasn't always looked like this. The Day I bought it, the white was new, the blue was clean, and the Rams held their logo high! The Rams are my all-time favorite team, I purchased this hat as a celebration the last time the Rams were in the Superbowl. This hat has been on many trips with me, it has hiked Victoria Peak in Hong Kong, has walked on The Great Wall of China with me, has seen the Terracotta soldiers in Xi'an, he has been with me on scouting trips, gone fishing at many different spots, has watched the Sunrise on the Nebo Loop Road, and has been with me to see the Sunset on Boulder Mountain. This hat has been as comfortable (and comforting) to me as a big sweatshirt is to others. You see, we have become friends and it doesn't deserve an untimely burial. No, instead he will be placed on the shelf in my closet, a place of honor. A place where I can look up at him and know that he has served me well. He can rest easy for he has had a good long life.
