My year in movies....

I received quite a bit of feedback last year regarding my top and bottom 5 movies. I thought it would be fun to do it again for 2010. However, as I compiled the list of movies that I had seen over the past 12 months, it was a fairly short list. I realized that if I again did a top 5 and a bottom 5 that it would encompass all the movies I saw this year. Due to this, I think I will just review a few of the movies I have seen this year.

Best Re-Make and My Favorite Movie of the Year:
True Grit -- I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. Okay, I hoped it was going to be a great movie and I was not disappointed. The acting was excellent, especially that of Hailee Steinfeld that played the role of Mattie Ross and Jeff Bridges did a remarkable job Rooster Cogburn, the Role that won John Wayne his only Oscar. I loved this movie and highly recommend it!

Biggest LOL
Date Night -- When a movie like this gets bad reviews, you know it is going to be good. This movie makes me laugh every time I watch it. Some of the scenes are incredibly funny and I seriously cannot contain my laughter.

Runner-Up Grown-Ups

Unexpectedly Enjoyable
Hubble 3D -- We saw this movie with at our work Christmas Part on the IMAX theater at the Clark Planetarium. I had hoped it would be a good movie for the group to see. I didn't expect it to be one of my favorite movies of the year. There is no CGI Graphics that can best the real thing. The images of what lies in and beyond our solar system are spectacular. This is for sure a movie I will see again.

Runner-Up The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Lived Up to the Hype
Avatar -- This movie had so much hype that I had no desire to see it at all. When I finally threw it in the DVD player, I was hooked and watched the entire movie without interruption. It was a little heavy-handed and preachy, but I admit that the movie was enjoyable.

Runner-Up Alice In Wonderland, Inception

Biggest Disappointment
Clash of the Titans -- I was so excited for this movie, I have long enjoyed the movie from the late 70's and figured with the latest and greatest advancements in special effects the remake would be awesome. I was wrong, the special effects were great, but the movie didn't have any great advancements. Even the scene where Liam Neeson says: "Release The Kraken" was not as good in the movies as it was in the preview. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the movie but it just wasn't as good as I hoped.

Well, those are my thoughts regarding movies I saw in 2010. What were your favorite movies? I am always happy for a good recommendation.

I think my movie theater movies all together wouldn't make up a list of 5 this year - don't know why but it seems hard to make the effort to go. I haven't seen a single movie on your list!
