Allow me a short rant

During the course of the past 6 years, I have traveled over 225,000 miles for my job. Wait, let me rephrase that. I have driven over 225,000 miles to and from my job. In that time I have seen and experienced many different things. Women really can put on make-up while driving, men try to read the newspaper while driving, it is possible for people to get busy while driving, and a variety of other things. My one major complaint is not even directed at the other drivers. In the course of my drive I cross through three different counties. (Juab, Utah, and Salt Lake) What truly amazes me is that you can really tell where one county ends and the next begins. Well, that is not true on most days, but on snow days it is very obvious. You would think that since the freeways are all maintained by UDOT they would all be the same. Nope, each county has their own road shed and maintains the roads in their county. For some reason the folks in Utah County cannot figure out how to plow the roads. Juab County doesn't have a problem, Salt Lake County doesn't have a problem, yet Utah County leaves the snow on the road. Are they just waiting for the sun to melt it? I tell myself, Utah County drivers are by far the worst drivers in the state and Utah drivers are terrible anyway, so that is truly a comment. In the past 6 years I have seen literally hundreds of slide offs, a handful of people spinning out of control, and a few rollovers. ALL in Utah County. Days like today are what really upsets me. For the past week the meteorologists have been forecasting the storm that hit last night. If I knew it was coming, shouldn't they know? I think that should be part of their job, know the storm is coming and be prepared. I mean peoples lives are at stake here!

Okay, rant over. Sorry. But it is fresh on my mind this morning. (Could have to do with me just coming in from the snow.) I would have continued this rant, but I am fairly certain had I continued this post would contain copious amounts of profanities, vulgarities, and even an explicit or two. Although I might be rusty with my cussing, to quote my bud TK, "I ain't as good as I once was, but I am as good once as I ever was."

While I personally do not county hop to get to work and back, I do visit the UC on occasion as my 2 married children live there with my sweet grandchildren. Thus I have had the privilege to drive from the SLC to the UC. I also worked in the UC for a short time after leaving FC. Anyway, I would have to agree with the statement that you can tell where one county ends and the next one begins. I also would have to agree that the UC has the worst drivers in all of Utah. I personally think it is because of all those Mini-van drivers. I'm pretty sure that if you did a count, the UC would have the most Mini-van drivers of any county in Utah.

BTW-my son did a video on the magic line between the UC and the SLC for the KJAZZ TV show B-all over last year. You might like it as it goes along with our first complaint. You can view it on http://www.kelsandray.com/videos.aspx?vid=magicline

Hey bud, you'll never believe this but I just received the Christmas card you sent. The local USPS delivery specialist has been putting my mail in a vacant box for the past 4 months and because I have a PO box I didn't even know it. How is the big city treating you? I hope all is well. Take care,
Rod
