After several months. we have the return of the movie review. Not that I haven't see any movies in that time, I just haven't decided to sit down and actually review the movie. The movie I am reviewing is Leonardo DiCaprio's latest film. "Inception".
Thursday I went to the late movie at Salt Creek Cinemas. Which is quickly becoming my favorite theater, because it is always clean, the chairs comfortable and most important, within a 5 minute drive of my home.
I want to be careful not to give away anything critical to the plot in case any of you are still planning on attending. Inception Stars, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Tommy on 3rd Rock from the Sun), and Ken Watanabe. The basic premise of the movie is about invading dreams, removing information or planting ideas. (It does go deeper than this, but I don't want to go too much into the details.) The idea behind the movie was interesting, I mean how many times have I wondered if the life I am currently leading is reality of maybe a dream. The acting was stellar and special effects were excellent. However, I didn't love the movie. I think the plot started to drop off and became a little too much about an hour and a half into the movie. I know this might be an unpopular review, as I have read a variety of comments on-line and everyone so far has LOVED it. Apparently, I have to be the lone dissenter.
Don't get me wrong, the movie did keep me wondering and trying to figure out the next plot turn/twist; but it just fell a little flat. I do have to point out as well, that I did not love The Matrix and this movie reminded me quite a bit of it. I think it was kind of a combination between "The Sixth Sense and the Matrix." The movie was about 2 1/2 hours long and honestly did not drag on like other lengthy movies are prone to do. But overall the movie was just okay. Didn't love it, didn't hate it and more than likely I will not watch it again. Despite my review, if you still want to see it, you definitely want to see it at the theater, where you can be free of distractions, otherwise you will probably spend too much time trying to figure out what just happened and getting caught back up on what you missed.
