Main street always held possibilities. Driving out of town North meant we were going to a family function or to Provo shopping for school clothes. Driving South usually meant a vacation involving a fishing trip.
As a teenager, it was the social scene. You always could find something to do or someone to hang out with, just by "taking a main".
Today it is not as exciting as it once was, but I am still intrigued by the possibilities that it holds.
