Top Ten Things About Being Unemployed

So, the other day I was asked what it is like to be unemployed. Of course it is not what I want to be, but it was my choice and I am still positive that it was the right decision and I will end up in the right place. Anyway, my reply was something along the lines of "it is what it is." Well, I have to admit, not having a job has not been that bad. So, I have come up with my list of the good things about being unemployed.

1. My "To Do" list, usually gets "To Done".
2. Last Wednesday I went to my nephew's baseball game and I didn't have to be into the office by 6:00 a.m. so I could make it to the game and I wasn't made to feel guilty about leaving work early.
3. SPRING--seriously this weather is awesome. I think I even have a bit of a sunburn from spending time outside.
4. I spent Friday and Saturday at the shooting range with 2 of my brothers, a sister-in-law and my father. After 2 years I finally decided to sight-in one of my guns, as well as check on a couple others. I also got to shoot some rounds through the rifle in the attached picture.
5. About 11:00 I go with my mother to get a Diet Coke.
6. Breakfast! Breakfast has always been one of my three favorite meals. But getting into the office so early, they were usually reserved for weekends or hunting and camping. In the last 6 weeks I have made pancakes, waffles, omelets, bacon and eggs, oatmeal, and I have even had a bowl of cereal. I love breakfast. If you are craving breakfast give me a call, I will make enough for you.
7A. I don't miss the 3 hours a day in my car.
7B. In conjunction with the 3 hours commute I am going to add: driving to work in the dark, coming home in the dark, driving in snow, and middle fingers.
8. Someone told me the other day that I am nice. (Haven't I always been?)
9. Did I mention my family? I have always made my family a priority, but it has been so nice to spend more time with them and just be able to relax and truly enjoy their company.
10. No alarm clock. The sound of the alarm going off each morning is one miserable way to start a day and I haven't missed it yet. Don't think I am sleeping in terribly late, but it is just nice to be able to wake up when I want rather than to some clock buzzing at me.

Just because I am currently enjoying my down-time doesn't mean that I won't soon be going stir crazy and I am anxious to get back to a daily routine. But for right now, it is just what I needed. I am missing my work buddies. I left some really great people at the FC and I haven't kept in contact with them as much as I should. Maybe in some of my spare time I will have to rectify that situation.
