A New Challenge

Last week I received an email from one of my good friends, Natalie S. She had accepted a blog challenge and in turn challenged several of her friends to do the same. The challenge is pretty simple; for one year take a picture a day and post it to your blog. Even though the challenge might be simple, the execution might not. There was a time when my camera went with me everywhere--but the last few weeks I haven't been traveling with it as much. However, I do intend to keep it with me at all times at least for the next year.

Here is the picture I decided to start with. Today I took a drive in search of the picture I wanted to use. I drove for several miles and nothing struck me. Well, as I turned the corner to come home I looked over into my backyard and saw what I thought would make for an interesting picture. However, as I stepped out the back door, I noticed something in the yard that did not belong. I walked over to it and instead of taking the picture of what I had planned, I took this one instead. It isn't one of those exciting pictures and it doesn't really pull at your heart strings, but I have to admit, I thought it was interesting. Looking at the balloon pieces, I wondered the history. How far had this balloon traveled? Did some child cry as it blew out the window? Was it part of a bouquet sent to someone special? I wondered what circumstances allowed for it to finally come to rest in my yard?
I hope you will like this challenge. I can't promise a picture each day, I might save up and post only once or twice a week. But I do promise to have a new picture each day. Those of you that keep a blog, I challenge you to join the challenge as well.

Great picture! I love the history side of it, bet I never look at a fallen balloon without thinking the same thing now.

Good luck! It is an awesome challenge, I have several friends participating and I'm always in awe with how their photography improves over the year.
