Gratitude #22 : Laughing

You often hear the phrase "Laughter is the best medicine," I absolutely agree! I make no secret about loving to have a good time. Being able to laugh at yourself is also one of the personality traits I admire most. There is nothing like a great big belly laugh, or a day spent with friends/family just being silly and laughing at only things you or your friends would find funny. Have you ever been out with friends and laughed so hard that the next day you woke up and your abs actually hurt? Isn't that a great feeling. (Even better than getting that ab hurt from exercise.)
It takes a special person and great timing to roll out a quip that will either ease a tense moment or provide that much needed boost to someone who might be feeling a bit down. Last Saturday while at Paul's house he leans over to me and asked me how my hand was feeling. For those of you that don't know, Saturday morning while helping to cook scones at the family party I reached my hand out to grab a tray full of scones. Well, the tray was sitting next to the heat and was red hot. It took less than three seconds for me to throw the tray back down and about 4 seconds for the blister to form. Well, because of the incident happening near hot oil Paul made the following comment to me. "Today was the second time in your life that you have received severe burns due to hot oil and grease, yet you have no bad feelings towards it. Peanut butter has done nothing evil to you, yet you still think it is bad. Maybe you should rethink your dis-likes." It was perfectly timed and kept me laughing most of the rest of the evening.
Yes, laughter is the best medicine and should also be taken daily as a vitamin supplement. I encourage you all to find something to laugh about each day. I promise, you will feel better.

Your poor hand - and I think you should stay FAR from hot oil
